MIL461.com News

Here’s a collection of great anechoic chamber photos that I’ve come across on the web. Most of these are taken in the massive Benefield Anechoic Facility on the southwest side of Edwards Air Force base.

According to Wikipedia, “the BAF is a ground test facility to investigate and evaluate anomalies associated with EW systems, avionics, tactical missiles and their host platforms. Tactical-sized, single or multiple, or large vehicles can be operated in a controlled electromagnetic (EM) environment with emitters on and sensors stimulated while RF signals are recorded and analyzed. The largest platforms tested at the BAF have been the B-52 and C-17 aircraft. The BAF supports testing of other types of systems such as spacecraft, tanks, satellites, air defense systems, drones and armored vehicles.”

Enjoy!

This is the first post on the new site and also my first time using WordPress or blogging, so this should be interesting. It’s amazing how far web technology has come in the past 10 years. I still remember coding HTML and JavaScript line by line back in the late 90s to generate ugly and barely functional websites. So far, this WordPress deal seems much more user-friendly.

I hope to keep this page updated with latest news on products and happenings at BlackStone Power, the company behind MIL461.com. The company was founded with the premise of reducing cost and risk associated with new product developments that must meet MIL-STD-461 or other stringent EMI specifications.

Currently, the company’s focus is on conducted emissions EMI filtering for military applications. Specifically, we are focused on helping system integrators and prime contractors design for MIL-STD-461 in order to reduce risk of failing costly qualificaiton testing. The product line is focused on 24 and 28VDC applications requiring MIL-STD-461 rating, because frankly the low voltage and high currents makes conducted emissions a much tougher problem to solve. From past experiences in MI/Aero design we have seen countless programs fail MIL-STD-461 testing resulting in substantial schedule delays and cost overruns. It doesn’t need to be this way, so we’ve designed a COTS product that will ensure passing MIL-STD-461E/F the first time. We’ve combine over 40 years of EMI and power design/testing experience into this product design to ensure that it will meet the needs of the vast majority of applications out there. Please take a look around the website. There isn’t much to see yet, but there will be more coming soon. If you have any questions or need more information on our products and services, please email sales@mil461.com or fill out the request for information form at www.mil461.com. We look forward to working with you!
